South London brewer Young & Co has been using Freshnet, an online trading and invoicing hub, for more than two years.
It has recently added the purchase of beers, wine and spirits to the system, enabling its pubs to place their orders at their own convenience.
Young's already uses the Freshnet system for ordering meat, poultry, game, fruit and vegetables, dairy, beer, wines and sprits and coffee. In the future it is looking to add frozen, chilled and ambient products. "We were looking for a way to streamline our business and the Freshnet system has helped us to achieve this," says Young's retail director Patrick Dardis. "We have been able to standardise our purchasing process across our estate, including the integration of our suppliers. Having real-time information and a complete audit trail of purchasing information has provided positive operational benefits to us."
The electronic data provided by Freshnet has proved invaluable, according to the brewer's purchasing manager, Neil Harding Deans. "One huge benefit of the system is that it provides a purchasing history and can be analysed for spend patterns and seasonal variations. This is extremely useful and has helped us rationalise our business."
